Manchester Amateur Choral Competition (MACC) – Sunday 11 February 2018

Facebooktwitter

We’re delighted that we’ve received the confirmation from MACC that we are officially entered into our first competition as a choir! Once the timings of the full day are all confirmed, then I will circulate the details to you all asap. In the meantime, I’m delighted to confirm the following:

Transport – we have booked 2 coaches to transport us all as a choir for the Sunday. This will be from the Digital Media Centre, County Way, BarnsleyIt is anticipated to be a full day out in Manchester.. Please arrive in good time to get parked so we can set off promptly at 8.30am. We will be leaving on schedule so please ensure you are there ready to go!

Dress code  – is black with a red accent.

Food – Packed lunches will be required and fluids for the day (there is a café but it will be busy!)

We estimate that we will be back in Barnsley for approximately 8pm Sunday evening.

Important note: The choir will be expected to spend the entire day at RNCM on Sunday. We are expecting our performers to remain and provide support to other choirs who are performing, and to benefit from exposure to other genres of music in terms of development and inspiration. Please remember that all members who are participating on the day will be representing Barnsley Singers on our first competition ever, and we will be setting a great example not just for ourselves but for Barnsley as a whole as a group of commuted and enthusiastic singers who support each other and our colleagues. It would be a shame if some of the choirs also participating on the day later in the afternoon had to suffer the indignity and disrespect of performing to a dwindling audience, and we certainly wouldn’t want to contribute to other choirs feeling this way so I hope we can maintain a strong presence for the duration of the event. Many thanks for your cooperation with this.

Cost – the cost for each participant is £10pp which is non-refundable. This is purely to cover the transport and entrance fee costs of the competition and is a non-profit cost.

Numbers – as we are not meeting up until the 9th January at our first rehearsal, please do feel free to email me if you wish to put your name down to take part in the competition. Numbers are limited to 100 (due to coach spaces available) and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. We will also operate a waiting list should numbers exceed 100.

Rehearsal commitment – due to the competition taking place on the 11th February, we do require a full commitment from all members for every rehearsal between now and then, which will include an additional weekend rehearsal (date TBC but more than likely to be Sunday 28th Jan, 10am – 1pm). Please do bear this in mind when committing to the competition to maximise rehearsal time.

Additional Support – Family and friends are also welcome to attend and give additional support on the day – tickets can be purchased here by following this link: https://www.rncm.ac.uk/performance/manchester-amateur-choral-competition
